HIROSHIMA TRIP! Day 1
Lauren and I took a night bus all the way out to Hiroshima for the weekend. It wasn’t so bad, but it pretty much wasn’t the best sleep I’ve ever gotten. Once we did arrive in the city, we had trouble figuring out the street car system there. We ended up getting off way too early and walked the long way to our hostel. It wouldn’t actually be so bad, but it was so humid and hot that I thought we would MELT.
Once we did find out hostel and drop off our bags, we spent the rest of the day exploring Peace Park. We went to an art museum, the memorial, and the peace museum. Besides the art museum, which was really lovely for its size and had artist like Monet and Picasso, the rest of the park was pretty depressing to be honest. I wouldn’t expect anything else though, but I was glad to have the opportunity to go there. It was interesting to see how against they are with Nuclear energy and Nuclear weapons, with good reason too. I mean seeing all the horrific images from Hiroshima was awful, and we definitely don’t want another incident like that. So many innocent people suffered and still suffer. I’m really glad they have something like this to remind people how terrible human creations can be…
On a happier note, we also met a few lovely elderly ladies at the museum rest area. They ended up making us a bunch of origami. It was super cute and nice. We also had a lovely oyster lunch at a local cafe near the park. After exploring all of the park that we could, we headed back to our hotel to wash up and rest for the night. For dinner, we had some okonomiyaki at the restaurant at the bottom of our hostel! It was pretty delicious!~
